The food writer Debbie
Hearn founded the Big Little Fruit Campaign in 2005. She’d noticed that the
traditional culinary fruits mentioned in ancient cookery books were often
extremely hard to get to taste, let alone cook with.
Debbie is the tenth of
twelve children, brought up in Berkshire, where currants from the garden,
blackberries from the hedgerow and windfall apples showed her what freshness
really means.
As a food writer,
Debbie is a keen advocate for British and seasonal foods and drinks, with a
special interest in fruit. In 2006, she judged the Tastiest Apple at the
National Fruit Show.
